Add L2TP/IPSec VPN to iOS device

To create a new VPN connection on a new iPhone or please follow these instructions:

  • Start on the home screen. Tap the Settings then General and then VPN icon.
  • Tap Add VPN configuration.
  • Enter the following information:
    Type: L2TP
    Description: Can be anything to identify the connection e.g. [Company name]
    Server: Enter the address of one of the L2TP server [remote.domain] (ask Cilix if unsure)
    RSA SecurID: Disabled.
    Account: Enter your username (ask Cilix if unsure)
    Password: Enter your windows password.
    Secret: Enter the IPSec shared secret key (ask Cilix if unsure)
    Send all traffic: Enabled.
    Proxy: Off.
    Click on the done button (top right).

You should now see a new VPN in your list of available VPN servers.

Click on the server name so there is a check mark next to it and connect by sliding the Status button to the right. Once connected it will display a small VPN icon in the title bar at the top of the screen. Note this will likely only work when you’re not on the Alloy WIFI so the device is coming in from the outside world.
