1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from Apple/Google app store (ensure its the correct one – the app is free and will never ask you to pay – links can be found at the end of this article):
2. Open Microsoft Authenticator and click the ‘+’ to add a new account.
3. Choose ‘Work or school account’ from the list of options:
4. In a web browser, go to https://aka.ms/MFASetup and sign in with your Office 365 account.
5. Click ‘Next’ on the below screen.
6. Click ‘Next’ and follow the on-screen instructions, until it proves a QR code to scan.
7. Choose ‘Scan QR code’:
8. Scan the QR code displayed on your computer/laptop screen and press ‘Next’:
9. After scanning the code, you will be prompted to approve the sign in on the app. Select Approve.
You will see a confirmation message on your computer/laptop that the sign in has been approved. Click Next.
10. The Microsoft Authenticator will now be setup and ready for you to retrieve ‘One-time password codes’ that expire every 30 seconds:
